Sea to Ski Triathlon Sunday

The Sea to Ski Triathlon will be Sunday at 1 p.m. Registration is from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the gazebo at Mariner Park.  The course includes a 5K run from Mariner Park to West Homer Elementary; a 7K mountain bike ride from West Homer Elementary up West Hill, across Highland and Sprucewood drives to the Roger’s Loop Road trailhead; and a 5K ski from Roger’s Loop to the Baycrest DOT Sterling Highway trailhead. Fees are $15 for students, $20 for adult members and $30 for non-members. Add $5 for late registration (after noon). There will be a required race meeting at 12:30 p.m. to go over safety rules; the race begins at 1 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. For more information, call Mike Byerly at 235-3880.

 

Ice fishing tourney Saturday 

A Snomads-sponsored ice fishing tournament will be held on Caribou Lake on Saturday. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the big tent on the lake, with a horn signaling hooks in the water at 10:30 a.m. The tournament wraps up at 1p.m., with winners announced and prizes awarded. Entry fee is $10 for adult Snomad members, $15 for nonmembers, $5 for youngsters ages 7-15 and free for any anglers 6 years and younger. Snomads members will drill holes in the ice; entrants must have a fishing license, gear and bait. Hot dogs and chili will be available around noon. For more information, visit snomadsonline.org.
