Game and event schedules are subject to change.

Sport programs in schools on the central Kenai Peninsula (Kenai, Nikiski and Soldotna) started back up on Monday, Aug. 31 after the central peninsula fell back into the medium-risk alert level in the system used by the school district to determine COVID-19 mitigation strategies for schools. Those schools and their sport programs had been closed earlier in August after the central peninsula rose into the high-risk category.

Now that the sports in Kenai, Nikiski and Soldotna have started again, those high schools have games and events on the schedule again.

Football: Homer’s football team is scheduled to play against Soldotna High School in an away game on Saturday in Soldotna. Junior varsity will play at 11 a.m. and the varsity team will play at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Cross-country running: The cross country team will travel to participate in the Nikiski Class Races, starting at 3 p.m. Friday in Nikiski.

Volleyball: The Lady Mariners are scheduled to play a home game against Seward High School on Friday in the Alice Witte Gymnasium. The C Team plays at 4 p.m. Friday, while the junior varsity team plays at 5 p.m. and the varsity team plays at 6 p.m.

Swimming: The first day of practice for the swim and dive team is Tuesday, Sept. 8.
