Alaska and U.S. law enforcement agencies are looking into a case involving a boat that allegedly illegally travelled from Old Crow, Yukon, to Fort Yukon, Alaska, following an overdose in the remote northern Canadian community, according to a press release by the Alaska Department of Public Safety state troopers’ information office.

A Ninilchik woman was killed last week in a single-vehicle rollover on the Sterling Highway, according to an Oct. 16 dispatch from the Alaska State Troopers

Cheryl Komakhuk, 67, was driving a Jeep southbound when she lost control on the icy roadway and rolled the vehicle into the ditch, the dispatch said.

Troopers and other first responders were dispatched to the scene.

Komakhuk was the sole occupant of the Jeep and was declared dead at the scene.

Next of kin have been notified.
