Anchor Point chamber honors community members

The annual Community Awards are held as part of the Snow Rondi annual winter festival.

The Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce honored the efforts and contributions of several community members on Saturday during the Community Awards announcements, part of the annual Snow Rondi winter festival schedule of events.

An old Anchor Point tradition, the Community Awards fell out of practice for several years before being revived in 2024. Anchor Point residents nominate community members for several award categories, including Youth of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Faculty/Educator of the Year, Business/Organization of the Year, and the Golden Deed Award.

Following the close of the nomination period, community members are then asked by the chamber to vote for potential winners of each award.

“You do so much for the community with no recognition, and that’s why you get recognized at this point here,” chamber president Dawson Slaughter said on Saturday during the award announcements.
