Poems in Place, a collaboration between the Alaska Center for the Book, Alaska State Parks and a steering committee of poets and writers and residents of Alaska, will place a poem written by an Alaska writer in each of the seven regions of the Alaska State Park’s system. This year’s Poems in Place will complete its goal to widely seed poetry in Alaska’s state parks. Until April 1, Poems in Place will be accepting poems, both original work as well as nominated poems written by Alaska writers and submitted by readers, for Fort Abercrombie State Historical Park, Kodiak, and Caines Head Recreation Area, Seward. There is no submission fee and an honorarium will be paid to the winning poets. For more information, visit Poems in Place at at alaskacenterforthebook.org.
