Anchor Point Senior Citizens
The Anchor Point Senior Center on Milo Fritz Road is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-noon Friday. The center serves Thursday night dinners starting at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Bingo is at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. on Friday nights. Sometimes we open up food products to find the surprise of uninvited guests wiggling in what we had hoped to consume. These insects and their larvae are grouped into what is called “pantry pests” and they inhabit flours, grains, pastas, nuts, pet foods, hides and much more. What do we do about these unwelcome visitors? How do we evict them after they have spread into the home? Your local Cooperative Extension Service can assist you with identification and control options. Homer Senior Citizens lunch is open to seniors and guests and is served noon-1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The lunch menu for this week is: today, pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy; Friday, coriander cod; Monday, baked chicken; Tuesday, pork cutlets; Wednesday, beef tacos; next Thursday, baked hams.
Strong Women classes are 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Homer Senior Center. The cost is $3 for members and $6 for nonmembers per class.

Homer Foundation
The Homer Foundation held its annual meeting on Nov. 22. This year also was the close of the Foundation’s 25th Anniversary year, and the annual report theme was “25 Years of Community Philanthropy.”
Highlights included music by the Homer Youth String Orchestra Club quartet, a remembrance of longtime Homer Foundation supporter and board member Mary Epperson, and the People’s Choice Awards. Three audience members’ names were drawn and they were invited to nominate their favorite nonprofit for one of the three $250 People’s Choice Awards. This year’s award winners were the Homer Community Food Pantry nominated by Doug Dodd, Cook Inletkeeper nominated by Nancy Lord, and Haven House nominated by Tina Seaton.
The Homer Foundation Annual Report is available to anyone interested by picking one up at the Homer Foundation offices at 3733 BenWalters Lane, Suite 4.
