Vancouver woman takes lead in derby

A Vancouver, British Columbia, woman has taken the lead in the Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby.

Ashley Camp of Vancouver now holds the top slot with a 221.4-pound, 76-inch halibut she caught July 28 while fishing with Captain Brian Nollar on the Bell Isles with Midnight Sun Charters.

Camp bought her derby ticket at Safeway.

Korean pop star Jung Joon-young also fished in Homer, catching a 21.4-pound yellow eye rockfish while fishing with Captain Ross Hodek of Central Charters on the Spirit.

Known as the Korean Brad Pitt, he and a film crew spent three days fishing and filming an episode of his TV show.
