Area runners compete at Boston Marathon

Four Kenai Peninsula runners, including past marathon and half marathon champions at the Kenai River Marathon, competed in the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Amanda Cherok, a 35-year-old from Homer who won the Kenai River Marathon in late September 2022 at 3 hours, 32 minutes and 1 second, finished the 26.2 miles of Boston at 3:22:32. She was 1,553rd in her 18 to 39 age category, 2,043rd among women and 9,883rd overall.

Patrick Lewis, a 35-year-old from Seward, won the Kenai River Half Marathon in 1:22:29 in 2021. He finished Boston at 3:18:49, taking 3,685th in his 18 to 39 age category, 7,239th among men and 8,823rd overall.

Collin Atkinson, 31, of Seward finished at 3:12:22, putting him in 3,460th place in his 18 to 39 age category, 6,064th among men and 6,975th overall.

Torrey Short, a 38-year-old from Homer, finished at 3:21:43. Short was 3,760th in his 18 to 39 age category, 7,693rd among men and 9,942nd overall.
