Homer Middle School boys and girls soccer teams each won their final games of the fall season and celebrated a trophy year for 2023.

The boys played their final game against the Kenai Kossacks and won the game 2-0. Eighth grade player Wolfe Trejo scored both goals.

The girls played Skyview Panthers and won 4-0. All four goals were scored by Estelle Velsko.

The last time the Homer Huskies won a championship game was in 2011. Kenneth Schneider, now coaching the boys team, played for the Huskies that year.

Both teams also had an undefeated season. “The girls team did not have goal scored on them all season, which is impressive,” Schneider said.

According to Schneider, the youth on these teams have been working together for several years now and have built up a solid core. The teams usually play together in the summer and compete in tournaments in Anchorage

This was the first year that Schneider coached the Homer Huskies.
