Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to three EMS calls and four fire calls.

June 3

Firefighters at 7:20 p.m. went to a report of a wildland fire near Alpine Meadows. Alaska Division of Forestry firefighters also responded. They found a .7-acre fire driven by winds from a rapidly moving cold front caused erratic behavior. However, firefighters quickly contained the fire.

June 4

KES firefighters at 2:42 a.m. provided mutual aid with a ladder truck and engine to the Homer Volunteer Fire Department to a fire in a building on East Bunnell Avenue.

Homer Police

May 23

Homer Police at 4:34 p.m. received several 911 calls of an active disturbance with a man attempting harm people. A 41-year-old man had barricaded himself inside a room with samurai swords. Officers talked the man down and arrested him for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, and fourth-degree assault, not domestic violence. He was taken to the Homer Jail.

June 1

Police at 11 a.m. went to multiple calls about a possibly drunk man. Police arrested a 56-year-old Homer man for disorderly conduct and took him to the Homer Jail.

June 4

Police at 2:37 a.m. received a call of a structure fire on East Bunnell Avenue. Emergency crews responded and all occupants and their pets were evacuated without injury.

Police at 11:33 p.m. contacted a 23-year-old Homer woman and arrested her for driving under the influence. She was taken to the Homer Jail.

June 5

Police at 11:47 p.m. contacted a 38-year-old Homer woman and arrested her for violating conditions of release.

Police at 8:43 p.m. contacted a 24-year-old Homer man for fifth-degree criminal mischief and DUI and took him to the Homer Jail.

Alaska State Troopers

June 5

Alaska State Troopers at 9:45 p.m. received multiple “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaints of a drive in a white GMC truck speeding more than 100 mph, passing dangerously and swerving in the road near Mile 115 Sterling Highway. Police found the vehicle driving more than 90 mph at Mile 133 Sterling Highway. Troopers determined the driver, a Homer man, was under the influence of alcohol. They issued him summonses for DUI and reckless driving and released him to a guardian.

May 31

Alaska State Troopers at about noon while searching a vehicle with a warrant found items that appeared to be stolen that were not connected to the original search warrant. Troopers located an address associated with the property, and when they went to the address they found it had been burglarized. Troopers determined a 43-year-old Wasilla man and a 27-year-old Wasilla woman had burglarized the home and taken several items. Police arrested them for burglary, criminal mischief and theft and took them to the Homer Jail.
