An abandoned building on Lake Street burned down Friday night, resulting in what Homer Police Department called a “complete loss.”
At approximately 6:20 p.m. Friday, police received “multiple 911 calls” of a fire at the building, police reported in June 21 update to their Facebook page.
Homer police and the Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the fire, police said.
The Friday blaze follows a fire reported at the same building at about 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, police said. On that day, police “received multiple 911 calls about smoke coming from the dilapidated building across from Ulmer’s Hardware.”
Police officers extinguished that fire, which was then “cleaned up” by Homer Volunteer Fire Department, according to their post.
Police said they have identified six minors responsible for the two fires — four for Friday’s fire and an additional two for the June 19 fire.
