Anchor Point man sentenced for sexual abuse of minor

On Wednesday, March 20, 53-year-old Scott Ring from Anchor Point was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Bride Seifert to 25 years in prison with five years suspended and 15 years of probation for sexually abusing a minor, the State of Alaska Department of Law announced in a March 29 press release.

Ring was convicted of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree on Nov. 1, 2023, by a Homer jury after a seven-day trial. According to the release, the evidence presented at trial showed that on Nov. 7, 2020, Ring touched the genitalia of a minor.

After he serves the 20-year active jail sentence, Ring will be required to register as a sex offender, the release states.
