Fundraiser open for family of Homer woman killed in shooting

Brianna Hetrick was fatally shot on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Homer

A GoFundMe has been launched to raise funds in support of the family of Brianna Hetrick, who was fatally shot on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Homer.

Homer police responded to the shooting with Alaska State Troopers around 4 p.m. and arrested Arturo Mondragon-Lopez Jr. outside the home, according to previous reporting from the Peninsula Clarion. Mondragon-Lopez Jr. has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Hetrick’s sister, Destiny Gracia, started the campaign with a goal of $30,000, asking for prayers and donations to help with expenses for memorial and funeral planning. The memorial is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11.

“My family and I would like to thank everyone who has reached out during this hard and unexpected time,” she wrote in the fundraiser description. “If anyone has memories or pictures of my sister they would like to share, we would love to see and read all about it!”
