Homer honors lives lost during 9/11

The Homer-Kachemak Bay Rotary held a Sept. 11 memorial ceremony at the flag poles in front of McDonald’s on Saturday.

With about a dozen people in attendance, including members of the American Legion Post 16, Christie Hill played “Taps” in honor of the 2,996 people killed in the four terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and the 13 service members killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 26, 2021.

Thirteen flags were placed on the center mound of the grass area in honor of those lost last month.
