M. 4.5 quake hits peninsula

No damage, injury was reported.

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake hit the Southern Kenai Peninsula at 11:09 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. Located near Nuka Island in the Gulf of Alaska, the quake was about 100 miles from Homer and about 20 miles deep.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, residents reported feeling the quake on the southern peninsula as far south as Nanwalek and in Southcentral Alaska as far north as Chugiak. There were no reports of damage or injury, with people ranking the intensity of the quake from weak to moderate in shaking.

The Alaska Tsunami Warning Center did not issue any tsunami warnings or advisories.
