A new batch of Homer Mariner students are being recognized for their attributes that go beyond academics with this quarter’s Mariners on the Move award.

Each Homer High School faculty member selects one outstanding student per year based on scholarship and character.

Honorees, their families and the teachers who nominated the students attended an Oct. 9 celebration catered by the Homer High School’s Culinary Arts class.

The Mainers on the Move program was created nine years ago through a group effort among high school staff.

First quarter winners were:
