‘Walk For Life’ draws 140 marchers

Update: This article has been changed to include the full name of the Water’s Edge Pregnancy Care and Family Resource Center and to clarify its mission as a pregnancy care center.

Carrying pink, blue and purple balloons and carrying signs that read “Love Life — Choose Life,” about 140 people marched along Pioneer Avenue and Bartlett Street on Labor Day in the Walk For Life.

The march started at the Assembly of God Church and Glacier View Baptist Church on East End Road and ended at Water’s Edge Pregnancy Care and Family Resource Center on Bartlett Street and the sponsor of the march. Water’s Edge also held an open house with games and food.

Water’s Edge Director Leighanne Dash said marches for National Sanctity of Human Life Day are often held in January, but Homer supporters of that day usually hold marches in summer when the weather is better.

Water’s Edge offers pregnancy testing, limited ultrasound testing and other resources for expectant parents. They also offer adoption referral services, Dash said. For more information, visit http://www.the-waters-edge.org/index.html or call 907-235-7899 or 1-800-395-4357.
