Kachemak Ski Marathon gets 78 finishers

The Kachemak Ski Marathon saw 78 finishers Saturday in the hills above Homer.

The event featured distances of 12, 25 and 42 kilometers.

Homer’s Stacey Buckelew, 45, won the women’s 25-kilometer race, finishing at 1 hour, 39 minutes and 55 seconds. Anchorage’s Linsey Flagstad, 49, was second at 1:40:47, while Homer’s Tara Schmidt, 33, was third at 1:43:54.

In the men’s 25K, Anchorage’s Aksel Flagstad, 13, took the victory in 1:30:54, while Anchorage’s Talven Wigglesworth, 13, was second at 1:32:37 and Ben Stanistreet, 33, was third at 1:33:25.

In the women’s 42K, Anchorage’s Anna Engel, 28, was first across the line at 2:37:03, with Anchorage’s Robin Welling, 32, second at 2:46:08 and Anchorage’s Carol Stwertka, 38, third at 2:48:54.

The victory in the men’s 42K went to Anchorage’s Benji Uffenbeck, 46, at 2:20:14, with Anchorage’s Gary Snyder, 52, second at 2:28:33 and Anchorage’s Paddy Sullivan, 46, third at 2:34:28.

The women’s 13K had three skiers, all from Homer. Karen Marquardt, 62, won at 1:32:00, with Margaret Gervais, 10, second at 1:57:01 and Monica Romano, 52, third at 1:59:49.

In the men’s 13K, Anchorage’s Noah Goltz, 21, won at 48:35, with Anchorage’s Benjamin Goltz, 19, second at 48:43 and Homer’s Fletcher Darr, 14, third at 56:33.
