Riptide undefeated in b’ball action


As Homer Community Schools City League Basketball finished its fifth week of action, the Best Western Riptide holds the only undefeated record. Nick Finley scored 21 and Dean DeVaney scored 17 in the team’s 84-44 win over the Home Run Oil Titans. 

The Bulletproof Nets beat Alaska Bible Institute 61-51 with help from the shooting stroke of Dyllan Day and his 20 points. Josh Gilbert also pitched in 12 for the Nets. The Gregoire Construction Smooth Operators defeated the K-12 squad 50-42. Heath Johnson led the Smooth Ops with 10 while Paul Gutzler had 10 points of his own for the teachers. 

Come watch the games every Monday between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at the Homer Middle School gym.
