Rotary helps boost literacy

The staff and students of West Homer Elementary School wish to thank you, Homer Kachemak Bay Rotary Club, for your generous ongoing support of the Battle of the Books program and literacy in our school. The entire student body has reaped the benefits of this program over the past 20 years. The program continues to grow in participation each year. While only a few students represent the school team during the final district battles, many students practice together, participate in book talks and activities related to the books, and participate in practice battles with teams all over the state. These “battlers” spend their lunches over the course of three months reading, discussing and competing.

With your generous support we are able to continue our successful literacy programs at West Homer Elementary.
