Mariners, Alumni face off on ice; Alumni win 10-1

The Mariners had only 15 skaters because of the Christmas holiday while the Alumni had an excessive bench of 22 during Tuesday night’s Alumni game — but it was a feisty game nonetheless.

The Mariners got on the board first with a goal by Dimitry Kuzmin and assisted by Charlie Menke. That goal earned Kuzmin the title of “Teddy Bear King” for the night, as it signaled to the crowd to throw the bears and other stuffed toys which they brought to donate. The Mariners were able to collect more than 100 toys which they will be donating to local charities this week, including South Peninsula Haven House, South Peninsula Hospital, Helping Hands in Anchor Point and the Homer Police Department.

Unfortunately, Kuzmin’s goal was the only one for the Mariners as they lost to the Alumni 10-1. Scoring for the Alumni were Kiril Sanarov, Asa Stage (two goals), Markian Polushkin, Adam Trieweiler, Owen Delehanty, Josh Pitta, Sam Satre, JJ Sonnen and Anton Kuzmin.

In goal for the Mariners were Riley Swanson for the first half of the game and Hunter Warren for the second half. Alex Sanarov was in goal for the Alumni.

Playing for the Mariners were Riley Swanson, Hunter Warren, Daniel Wiest, Hunter Tillion, Dimitry Kuzmin, Lee Lowe, Garrett Butcher, Jack Heimbold, Finn Heimbold, Emily Baylink, Spencer Warren, Charlie Menke, Woape Huffman, Connor Roderick and McKenzie Hill.

Playing for the Alumni were Travis Brown, Adam Trieweiler, Keith Bell, Josh Pitta, Brady Quinn, Luke Eckert, Derek Martushev, Valdimir Sanarov, Mark Reutov, Asa Stage, Alex Sanarov, Dennis Sanarov, Konstantin Reutov, Tom Bowe, JJ Sonnen, Clem Tillion, Ulian Kuzmin, Markian Polushkin, Anton Kuzmin, Kiril Sanarov, Sam Satre and Owen Delehanty.
