Homer Truffle Co. reopens with new products

Homer Truffle Co. hosted a grand re-opening ceremony Tuesday, Aug. 17, to launch its new products after being closed since July 16. Located on East Pioneer Ave, Homer Truffle Co., owned by David and Evangelina Briggs, is an artisan chocolaterie that specializes in truffles and chocolates.

Members of the community and the Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center gathered at the shop to watch the ribbon-cutting ceremony and enjoy the new flavors of truffles David Briggs had created.

The relaunch was spurred by customer feedback and the desire to cut back the amount of products they were creating in exchange for new and better truffle flavors. David Briggs said the confectionery is now focusing more on creating truffles rather than the additional sweets they made in the past, including chocolate bars. The bars will eventually be brought back, but David Briggs said right now, “the truffles are the way to go.”

“I was closed for the last couple of weeks trying to re-envision what we wanted to do and what direction we wanted to go,” David Briggs said. “Since it’s ‘Homer Truffle Company,’ I thought we should do some more truffles.”

The new truffles are 25% bigger, and several new flavors have been introduced. According to David Briggs, there will be sweets for every person to enjoy, including a few treats with a hint of heat. While the truffles are now bigger, they are still for sale for 65 cents per truffle. Additionally, Homer Truffle Co. will sell pre-packaged truffles.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, David Briggs expressed his gratitude for the community’s support since opening the store in 2020.

“For those of you who have been supporting us this entire time, thank you so much,” he said.

Homer Truffle Co. is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.
