Homer Volunteer Fire Department

Aug. 22-28

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to six Advanced Life Support emergencies, six Basic Life Support emergencies with one No Transport, for a total of 12 EMS related calls. In addition, there was one fire call for an alarm investigation and one mutual aid call from KESA that was cancelled.

Kachemak Emergency Services

Aug. 22-28

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to eight medical call and two fire calls.

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to nine medical calls and one fire call.

Homer Police

Aug. 23

At 6:45 p.m., a Homer Police officer conducted a traffic stop. Contacted a 29-year-old Homer resident who was arrested for DUI/Drugs, he was remanded to the Homer Jail.

Aug. 24

At 10:21p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop, contacted 43-year-old Homer resident who was then arrested for Felony DUI, and remanded to the Homer Jail.

Aug. 28

At 2:51 p.m. officers responded to Mariner Park for reports of a female spinning car and harassing neighboring campsite. As a result, a 39-year-old Homer woman is arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Violating Conditions of Release.

At 9:00 p.m., officers and EMS responded to a deceased person. As a result, a 39-year-old Homer resident, was found deceased. Next of Kin was notified.

Aug. 29

At 10:14 a.m., a 44-year-old Homer resident was arrested for a $2500.00 Soldotna AST Felony Arrest Warrant, Original Charge: Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV, and remanded at Homer Jail.

Aug. 30

At 10:21 a.m., a 47-year-old Soldotna resident turned himself in for PTRP, UA, stop and hold for Probation Officer Seiffert. The man was remanded to the Homer Jail.

At 15:51 p.m., Homer PD received a REDDI report. Officers contacted a 33-year-old Homer woman. She was arrested and charged with DUI, Refusal, False Report and a DWLR. The woman was remanded to the Homer Jail.

Alaska State Troopers

Aug. 24

At 8:16 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for reckless driving near the intersection of School Street and Sterling Highway. The driver, an 18-year-old Anchor Point resident, was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest for DUI, Reckless Driving, Minor Operating Vehicle After Consuming Alcohol, and Minor Consuming. The passenger a 15-year-old Anchor Point resident was issued a citation for Minor Consuming. Both parties were released to a responsible party.

At 7:45 p.m., Troopers responded to the area of Deep Creek Way in Ninilchik for a medical issue. Troopers contacted a 31-year-old Ninilchik resident and determined he had several warrants for his arrest. The man was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail. Bail for the warrants totaled $400.

Aug. 28

At 5:20p.m., Troopers responded to a residence on Aspen Lane in Ninilchik for a female who had been found deceased. An investigation showed a 74-year-old Ninilchik woman had died of natural causes at her residence. The woman had been found deceased by her son. The body was released to the family.

At 3:49 pm, Alaska State Troopers responded to an address on Shorebird Lane in Anchor Point for a reported death. An investigation showed that sometime during the previous 24 hours, a 80-year-old Anchor Point resident had died due to a gunshot wound. The man had been found by a friend who was checking up on him after the deceased did not respond to phone calls and texts during the day. Based on the scene investigation, it appears that the man was exiting his vehicle when a firearm he was carrying came out of the holster and fired a round fatally wounding him. There is no sign of foul play and the man’s body is being transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. Next of kin has been notified.

Aug. 30

At 9:45 a.m., Troopers responded to a local RV park in Anchor Point for a report that Probation Officers had located drugs in the possession of a probationer. An investigation showed that during a probation search a 30-year-old Anchor Point resident was found in possession of psilocybin mushrooms. The man was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail on MICS 5th charges and for probation violation. He was held without bail.
