Update: On July 4, “formal search efforts” for Robert Weaver, a man missing in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge since June 25, were concluded. The refuge on Facebook wrote that over several days, dog teams, air crews, boats and ground searchers had looked for Weaver without success near a cabin where he was last seen and a river where his backpack was found.
Original Story: A missing man named Robert Weaver was last seen near Skilak Lake on June 25, the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge said this week.
In a Facebook post that has been updated multiple times, the refuge says they’re seeking information about Weaver’s whereabouts. He was last known to be at the Doroshin Bay public use cabin.
Weaver’s backpack was found in a log jam “near where the Upper Kenai River meets Skilak Lake,” the most recent update says. Ongoing searches by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service boats, drones and rafts and an Alaska Wildlife Trooper helicopter have been unsuccessful as of Wednesday evening.
Information about Weaver can be directed to refuge headquarters at 907-262-7021.
