Seldovia Bay ferry extends its season indefinitely

The Seldovia Bay Ferry has announced an indefinite extension of its fourth season providing round trips between Seldovia and Homer twice a day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The extended service schedule begins Friday.

The extension comes following the extended absence of the Alaska Marine Highway’s M/V Tustumena, currently under repair.

“Residents and business on both sides of the bay have expressed a need for regular passenger and light freight transportation after Labor Day,” Ian McGaughey, spokesperson for Seldovia Bay Ferry, said in a press release. “Our ferry is ready to meet that need as a service to our communities.”

The ferry determined its extended schedule after offering a survey to area residents and businesses asking for the ideal three days of service.

Operating Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the Kachemak Voyager will depart Seldovia at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and depart Homer’s Ramp 7 at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Passengers are asked to arrive 30 minutes before departure, more if transporting freight.

Tickets can be purchased on the vessel; reservations are not required. One-way tickets are $33 per person, plus taxes.
