Salted Roots Alaska, a Seward-based lodging business open year-round and with a second location in Anchorage, was one of eight award recipients at the Alaska Travel Industry Association’s recent annual convention.
According to an Oct. 28 press release, ATIA is a nonprofit trade membership organization for the travel and tourism businesses in Alaska. ATIA also manages the Travel Alaska marketing program.
Recipients of ATIA’s annual Visitor Industry Awards are selected by “visitor industry peers,” the release says, based on “professional excellence and service” to Alaska’s tourism industry.
Salted Roots Alaska owners Matt Cope and KellyAnn Cavaretta received the Chuck West Award, which was created by Marguerite West in honor of her husband and is traditionally given to a “new pioneer in the industry” who has exhibited entrepreneurial creativity, innovation and courage in the introduction of a successful new product for the benefit and enjoyment of Alaska’s visitors.
