Two-hour school delay Thursday affects Homer, Anchor Point, Ninilchik schools

Bus routes and classes will begin two hours later than normal Thursday, Dec. 9.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District announced the start of Thursday, Dec. 9 classes for all Homer, Anchor Point and Ninilchik schools will be delayed by two hours in response to weather and road conditions, according to a notice by the school district Wednesday afternoon.

If conditions warrant, a decision to cancel the full school day will be announced by 7 a.m. If a cancellation is not announced, the school day will begin two hours later. Pre-K sessions, both morning and afternoon, are canceled.

Schools that are affected by the delayed start are Chapman School, Connections Homeschool, Fireweed Academy, Homer Flex School, Homer High School, Homer Middle School, Kachemak Selo School, McNeil Canyon Elementary School, Nikolaevsk School, Ninilchik School, Paul Banks Elementary School, Razdolna School, Voznesenka School and West Homer Elementary School.

According to the release, a two-hour delay means that morning buses will run two hours later than normal and classes will begin two hours later.

Nanwalek, Port Graham and Susan B. English schools will remain on a normal schedule.
