Anthony James Gilliam

Homer resident, Mr. Anthony James Gilliam, 60, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, at his residence in Homer.

Anthony served in the United States Marine Corps as a Mortarman. In his journey through life, he decided to move to Alaska in 1991. He was employed as a hydraulic repairman and as a gun smith. He loved doing various activities outdoors, rebuild projects, and was very passionate about guns.

The family wrote, “Anthony enjoyed being outside and going camping. He always had a vehicle rebuild project going on. He rebuilt many trucks and jeeps. He was also very passionate about guns. He taught all three of his kids how to shoot and to respect guns. His favorite gun would have been the AR-15. He spent several years as a range master for Anchor Point Gun Range. He also spent time with the NRA helping them with their gun distributions. If you had a gun problem, he was your guy. He helped many to keep their firearms in working order. A lot of people referred to him as ‘the gun guy.’”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Donald Gilliam and Velma Margaret Gilliam.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Gilliam Homer, Alaska; son, Richard Gilliam Homer, Alaska; daughter, Abby Gilliam Homer Alaska; son, Nicholas Gilliam Homer Alaska; grandson, Justin Gilliam of Homer, Alaska; brother, Christopher Gilliam of Idaho, and his sister, Laura Paige, of Idaho.

Memorial onations may be made in memory of Anthony to 552 Bonanza Ave., Homer, AK 99603.
