Redington Sr. Junior/Senior High School won the Top Dog Invite on Friday and Saturday at Nikiski High School.

The Huskies scored 234 points for the victory, while Wasilla was second with 179.5. Kenai Central led the Kenai Peninsula by finishing fourth with 159 points, while Nikiski was seventh with 121.5, Soldotna JV was ninth with 110.5 and Homer was 10th with 109.

Andrew Gaethle at 152 pounds and Jalyn Yeoman at girls 145 led the Kardinals by taking championships.

Gaethle pinned Dillingham’s Zach Kolbe at 3:47 in the championship match, while Yeoman went 4-0 in four rounds of wrestling.

Also in the top six for the Kardinals were Talon Whicker in second at 130, Sarai Bravo-Moe in second at girls 135, Simone Watts in second at girls 160, Owen Whicker in third at 135, Jenna Yeoman in third at girls 160, Antonio Perez in fourth at 130, Dakari Robinson in fourth at 189, Isabella Asi in fourth at girls 125, Reymond Perez in fifth at 152 and Morgan Stark in fifth at 189.

For the Mariners, Mischelle Wells was second at girls 235, Cecilia Fitzpatrick was second at girls 125, Brayden Woods was second at 160, Nestor Kalugin was second at 171, Rainey Sundheim was second at girls 145, Paul Minke was sixth at 125, Adgel Chandler was sixth at 215 and Russell Nyvall was sixth at 145.

Finishing in the top six for the Bulldogs were Sam Yerkes in third at 145, Simon Grenier in third at 171, Mayaac Schmitt in third at 285, Oliver Parrish in fifth at 145, Jackson Wittmer in fifth at 160, Truit McCaughey in fifth at 171, Robert Isabel in fifth at 215, Jasmine Durfee in sixth at girls 160 and Tim Goodnight in sixth at 189.

For the Soldotna JV, Hunter Bras was second at 135, Saiyan Baker was second at 145, Edgar Land was third at 152, Wyatt Faircloth was fourth at 152, Jaykob Kemp was fourth at 160 and Simon Willets was sixth at 112.

Soldotna boys finish third at Halloween Monster Bash Duals

The Soldotna boys wrestling team finished third on Friday and Saturday at the Halloween Monster Bash Duals at South Anchorage High School.

Colony won the tournament, while South Anchorage was second.

At the tournament, Soldotna defeated Eagle River 47-33, defeated Palmer 52-25, defeated Wasilla 48-27, lost to Colony 42-31, lost to South Anchorage 34-32 and defeated East Anchorage 42-21.

At the Monster Bash Women’s Tournament, Trinity Donovan took the title at 145 pounds for the Stars. In the championship match Donovan pinned Kaitlyn Cottrell of Colony at 3:25.

Also for the Stars, Daisy Hannevold was runner-up at 135 and Jessica Leclair took third at 103.
