Volleyball:

The visiting Homer volleyball team defeated Nikiski 25-12, 25-18 and 25-16 on Saturday.

Nikiski coach Stacey Segura said the story of the match was her squad not doing enough with attacking opportunities against the Mariners.

“For every good play we probably had five unnecessary, unforced errors,” the coach said.

Segura said the Mariners are very dangerous when they get a chance to run their offense.

“We weren’t consistent,” Segura said. “We couldn’t get enough good passes to keep our hitters going.”
