Candidates for one-year and three-year terms on the Homer City Council answered questions in a forum hosted last week by the Homer Chamber of Commerce.
The property acquisition, slated to be completed early next year, is tied to the city’s ongoing green infrastructure efforts.
The change endorsed by the Library Advisory Board was approved by the Homer City Council on Sept. 8.
The Homer City Council approved an ordinance accepting and appropriating grant funds for the Homer Public Library.
Four goals for Homer were included in the Kenai Peninsula Walkability Action Plan, which was approved in July.
The ordinance was postponed to the Sept. 22 meeting.
If constructed, the expansion would meet the currently existing harbor needs and demands.
Ordinance 25-52 would have asked voters whether the city should continue a percentage of city sales tax to fund a new community recreation center.
The election will take place on Oct. 7.
The candidate filing period closes at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15.
Incumbents Bradley Parsons and Jason Davis have filed to retain their council seats.
The public hearing will take place at the next regular meeting on Monday, July 28.
Longtime commissioner Franco Venuti was re-appointed for a term expiring in 2028.
