Ninilchik resident Ms. Debra Anne Henderson, 61, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016. at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Carl Bock Hall inside the Ninilchik Fairgrounds in Ninilchik. A reception will follow.

Ms. Henderson was born June 1, 1955, in Centralia, Wash. She moved to Alaska in 1957 and living in Ninilchik, where she graduated from Ninilchik High School in 1973. In 1975 she moved to Anchorage, where she then graduated from Alaska Business College in 1979. She remained living in Anchorage until 1997 before moving back to Ninilchik. She worked for the Ninilchik Senior Center until her passing. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 18 and the Ninilchik Senior Center. She had been a board member for the Kenai Peninsula Fair, Emergency Services, Ninilchik Community Library and ALA Alaska Girls State Director for five years. She held many Ninilchik Unit offices and Department Auxiliary chairmanships. Her life was about giving back to her community. She helped with different fundraising events and could be counted on to donate a beautiful handmade quilt whenever somebody asked for a donation. She loved quilting and reading romance novels.

The family wrote, “She will be missed by many. She was a pillar of strength to her kids, family and community. Her generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to anybody that had the pleasure of meeting her. Her passing will leave a void in the hearts of many, but we will remember the good times and laughs in order to get us through the tough times. We will keep her alive in our memories and pass on the stories to her beloved grandkids so that they will hold a piece of her in their hearts.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Carol Bock; brother, Bill Bock; and granddaughter, Naomi Spencer.

She is survived by her daughters, Monica (Joe) Sallee of Homer and Donna (Matt) Wolfe of Homer; son, Thomas Spencer of Lewiston, Mont.; sister, Linda (Mike) Painter of Ninilchik; brothers, Roger (Shareen) Bock of Wasilla, Craig (Helena) Bock of Ninilchik, and Rick Bock of Ninilchik; sister in-law, Cheryl Bock of Anchorage; grandsons, Cole Sallee of Homer, Christopher Cline of Great Falls, Mont., Sean Belliveau of Great Falls, Mont., and Dawson Wolfe of Homer; granddaughters, Shyanne Sallee of Homer and Stephanie Spencer of Gulfport, Miss., and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
