Comedians to perform 2 shows at Anchor Point VFW

Steve Hytner and Marc Price will perform live comedy in two shows May 12

California comedians Steve Hytner and Marc Price will perform live comedy in two shows at the Anchor Point VFW on Friday, May 12.

Steve Hytner is known for his role as Kenny Bania in the popular television series “Seinfeld” and Marc Price played “Skippy” on “Family Ties.”

Price, who spoke with Homer News on May 5, said he has a long personal history and interest in standup. His father was involved in what he called “old, old-school American comedy,” appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show, as well as peforming on radio with the likes of Fred Allen.

“His peers and friends were Sammy Davis Jr. and George Burns, Milton Berle and Joey Bishop,” Price said of his father. “I couldn’t have had a better introduction, hanging out with Milton Berle in the dressing room.”

Price grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey, but both parents were involved in show business and had a lot of family friends moving to California to find careers in the west, he said.

“My father eventually moved to California — because he loved Hollywood and show business — in about 1980 and I eventually joined him,” he said. “I loved it and you can’t fight destiny.”

Both Price and Hytner have performed in Alaska previously and are excited to return for the joint performance. They will also do shows in Anchorage and Soldotna.

“I love beautiful scenery so you can imagine how excited I am to come to Alaska. We’ll take a few days off after our shows to visit the state,” Price said.

The actors will perform a double headliner show at the Anchor Point VFW. The first show will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at eventbrite.com or at the VFW located at 72551 Milo Fritz Ave. in Anchor Point.
