Gardens glow in annual tour

Despite a forecast of clouds and rain, the sun shined Sunday on the Homer Garden Club’s 12 annual Homer Garden Tour.

The tour featured five homes ranging from Francie Roberts’ in-town oasis to the sprawling, finely crafted farm and artist studio of Jeff and Ranja Dean.

With gardens both near sea-level and high on the hill, the tour offered a variety of microclimates.

All burst with explosions of color. Many incorporated artistic details, like Sara Reinert’s masks placed to provide interest in Roberts’ gardens or the art of the Dean family that turned simple structures like a chicken coop into a sculpture.
