Build week for the 11th annual Burning Basket continues noon-8 p.m. daily through Saturday at Mariner Park on the Homer Spit. On Sunday, this year’s basket, Grow, is presented to the community at 1 p.m. with a potluck at 6 p.m. The basket is then burned at sundown. A community interactive, impermanent art experience facilitated by Homer artist Mavis Muller, the burning also includes drumming and fire spinning.
Volunteers are needed throughout the basket’s creation. Participate as much as or as little as you like. Tasks include collecting material, building the basket frame and weaving fiber into the basket. For more information, contact Muller at 299-1478 or visit mavismuller.com and facebook.com/BurningBasketProject.
