Soldotna Music Series lineup announced, opens June 5

The music series runs every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Levitt AMP Soldotna Music Series will return to Soldotna Creek Park for its fifth year starting the first week of June. A roster describing 13 performances and 26 artists was released last month.

Organizer Mary McCubbins said May 2 that the event features a “phenomenal” group of musicians representing a range of genres with broad appeal. She said she’s eagerly awaiting the start of the season when people will return to the lawn and enjoy one another’s company under the summer sun.

The music series runs every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the opener playing from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and then the headliner closing the evening. Also returning this year are lawn activities that begin an hour ahead of the music at 5 p.m.

McCubbins said this year’s opening realizes a longtime desire, seeing Hope Social Club perform at the park. They’re headlining the June 5 opening evening, with Woodrow kicking off the fun.

But from there, the hits keep coming. McCubbins said that June 12’s Shake City String Band brings in some Celtic sounds, opened by Homer’s Ken Waldman and Josh Krohn.

There are several returning local and visiting performers this season, like Bunny Swan Band, Roland Roberts Band, Riverfront Gang and Ellie Nelson and the Echoes, but also lots of exciting new faces, like Black Barrell & the Bad Men, Boot Juice, Mark Taylor and Gold Peak.

McCubbins said the music series is a celebration of local music and a chance to check in with artists, especially the local acts, and see them grow year over year.
