Funds support school’s project

On behalf of the West Homer students and staff, I thank the Homer Foundation, and specifically the Daisy Lee Bitter Marine and Coastal Education Fund for supporting our Schoolyard Habitat Project.

These funds allowed us to develop interpretative sites along our nature trail this year. We were able to purchase a weather station, equipment for exploring and observing our stream site, as well as a game camera to observe and document game along the trail. Thank you for allowing us to enhance outdoor education in our school’s “backyard” where we can learn about botany, invertebrates, forest succession and local ecology.
