Robert Harlan Breakfield Sr.

Longtime Alaskan Robert Harlan Breakfield Sr., 91, died of natural causes on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, surrounded by his family at Riverside Assisted Living in Soldotna.

A graveside service was held Jan. 30 at Soldotna Community Memorial Park. Pastor Frank Alioto officiated. Military honors were by V.F.W. Post 10046 and American Legion Post 20.

Bob was born May 5, 1927 in Cumming, Iowa to George and Daisy (Hodges) Breakfield. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Guadalupe.

He moved to Alaska in 1962 and lived in Homer. There, he owned Bob’s Ski-doo for 19 years. Bob was a member of the V.F.W. in Homer.

His family wrote, “He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.”

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Marilyn; daughter, Rhonda Wooley; and grandson, Joe Wooley.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Kathy Breakfield of Portland, Oregon, and Jeff and Pamela Breakfield of Soldotna; grandchildren, Corey Breakfield of Portland, Oregon, Melodie Tanigawa and husband Brett of Portland, Oregon, Natalee Taylor and husband Chris of Portland, Maine, Amy Hart and husband Dan of Anchorage, and Ben Breakfield of Soldotna; great-granddaughter, Riley Breakfield of Soldotna; great-grandson, Dax Taylor of Portland, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be sent in Bob’s honor to the American Diabetes Association, 801 W. Fireweed Ln., Ste. 103, Anchorage, AK 99503.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
