The Homer High School hockey team is back for the 2023-2024 season.

After a season of inactivity due to low player turnout, the Mariners kicked off their season by holding their first practice last week.

The last time the Mariners took the ice was back in the Alaska state semifinal playoff game against Houston in February 2022.

Before their Oct. 12 practice, it had been exactly 616 days since the Mariners had last suited up for organized hockey.

The Mariners are now sharpening their skates for their first game, which will take place against Kenai on Nov. 3.
