Alaska State Troopers
Alaska State Troopers at 8 a.m. went to a vehicle crash near Mile 4 East End Road. Troopers said a 24-year-old Homer woman drove off the road in her 2006 Subaru wagon and hit mailboxes and the ditch. The crash totaled her car.
Troopers at 7:19 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 28-year-old Palmer man driving a red GMC Sonoma at the Homer Post Office. Trooper said the man had an active warrant for his arrest on an original charge of driving under the influence with five days jail time to serve. Troopers arrested him without incident. During the arrest troopers observed suspected methamphetamines. Troopers got a search warrant and searched the GMC, finding 5 grams of meth. Troopers also charged the man with third-degree and fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. He was taken to the Homer Jail on the warrant to serve five days and also not allowed bail on new charges of driving while license suspended and drug misdconduct.
Troopers at 6:37 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 26-year-old Washington woman near Mile 166 Sterling Highway. Troopers said she drove with a revoked license and issued her a summons for driving while license revoked. Troopers impounded her car.
Troopers at 9:22 p.m. stopped for an equipment violation a 60-year-old Anchor Point man driving near Kasilof. Troopers said the man was impaired and arrested him for driving under the influence. He was not allowed bail pending arraignment because of prior DUI convictions.
Troopers at 10:44 p.m. went to a vehicle crash near Mile 7 East End Road. Troopers said a 57-year-old Homer man drove his 1994 Chevrolet truck off the road. He was not injured, but troopers said alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers at 12:45 p.m. went to a report of a disturbance at an Alut Avenue home in Anchor Point. Troopers said a 39-year-old Anchor Point man assaulted a family member and damaged property at the home. Troopers arrested the man for fourth-degree assault and fifth-degree criminal mischief, domestic violence.
Troopers at 8:21 p.m. made a traffic stop on the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier on the Sterling Highway near Diamond Ridge Road. Troopers alleged the driver, a 52-year-old Soldotna man, had methamphetamines in his wallet when he retrieved his identification. Troopers said the man also had more meth on his person as well as hashish oil in his car. Troopers arrested the man for fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and fifth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
Troopers at 4:19 p.m. responded to a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint of a person in a maroon 2005 Chevrolet 2500 driving south on the Sterling Highway near Mile 106. A caller said the man threw a beer bottle into the woods and urinated in the caller’s driveway. Troopers found and stopped the vehicle near Mile 142 Sterling Highway after seeing the driver make suspect lane changes. Troopers arrested the driver, a 53-year-old Anchor Point man, for DUI. The man was to be released on his own recognizance when sober.
