Sept. 2-8

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians went to 13 medical calls and four fire calls.

Homer Police

Sept. 1

An officer at 5:04 a.m. made a security check on a business on Spit Road and found an open door. The officer located the key holder for the building and the door was secured.

A caller at 5:30 a.m. reported loud music and noise in late evening hours on Forest Glen Drive. An officer went to the scene and issued a disorderly conduct warning.

A caller at 3:21 p.m. requested a welfare check on a kite surer on the Homer Spit. An officer found everything was OK.

An officer at 5:08 p.m. advised people at Bishop’s Beach that there was a fire suspension in place.

An officer at 8:23 p.m. attempted to serve a warrant on Spit Road.

A caller at 9:40 p.m. reported a vehicle collision with a moose at Paintbrush Street and Skyline Drive. An officer went to the scene and a charity for the moose meat was contacted.

A business at 10:39 p.m. reported a woman trespassing on Homer Bypass Road. An officer went to the scene and issued the 26-year-old woman a summons for trespassing.

An officer at 11:24 p.m. gave a driver a warning for having expired registration on Kachemak Drive.

Sept. 2

An officer at 1:25 a.m. attempted to contact the owner of a vehicle due to a parking violation on Beluga Place.

Officers impounded a vehicle at Homer Bypass Road and Main Street at 1:29 a.m.

A caller at 8:13 a.m. reported vandalism to property on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the area.

A caller at 9:20 p.m. reported a neighbor with an open fire burning on Mariner Drive. An officer went to the scene and told the neighbor about the burn ban that was then in effect.

A woman at 1:40 p.m. went to the police station to report a suspicious circumstance on Spit Road after the fact. An officer spoke with the woman.

A caller at 1:47 p.m. reported finding a dead man on Frisbee Court. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 1:47 p.m. reported a dead man on Main Street. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 3:15 p.m. reported a possibly vicious dog in a vehicle on Spit Road. The caller said the dog was lunging at pedestrians through the open window. The report was passed on to the Animal Control Office.

A caller at 6:48 p.m. reported concern for an unattended animal on Main Street. The Animal Control Office was notified.

An officer at 7:45 p.m. went to the animal shelter to deal with a dog surrender.

A caller at 8:13 p.m. reported seeing a man urinating in public on Spit Road. An officer went to the scene but didn’t find anyone.

An officer at 10:26 p.m. conducted search warrant service on Heath Street.

Sept. 3

A man at 1:39 p.m. went to the police station requesting help with a civil issue in Seward. The man was advised of his options.

A person at 2 p.m. went to the police station asking to speak with an officer about a civil issue. An officer advised the person about their options.

A caller at 3:18 p.m. reported a possibly intoxicated woman swerving and almost walking into traffic on the Sterling Highway. Officers went to the location and gave the woman a ride back to the cruise ship she had come on.

A woman at 5:15 p.m. went to the police station to report an assault on White Alder Court. An officer took a report and a 22-year-old man was arrested for fourth-degree assault.

A caller at 8:20 p.. reported a woman driving without a license at Glenview Street and the Sterling Highway. An officer contacted the driver.

Sept. 4

A caller at 1:35 a.m. reported a vehicle with people inside it was disabled on the side of the road on Kachemak Drive. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 8:26 a.m. reported a woman struggling with an unknown problem on Homer Bypass Road. An officer went to the area and found that the woman was trying to get fuel for her vehicle.

A caller at 9:23 a.m. reported hearing a possible gunshot in the area of Bay Vista Place and Bay Vista Court. An officer went to the area and didn’t locate anything suspicious, but noted construction work was happening on a residence in the area.

An officer at 10:50 a.m. served a domestic violence restraining order to a person in the Homer Jail.

A caller at 11:55 a.m. reported vehicles parked and partially blocking a lane of traffic at Lake Street and Smoky Bay Way. An officer went to the area.

A person at 12:56 p.m. went to the police station to report fraudulent activity on a bank account. An officer took a report.

A caller at 1:02 p.m. reported a possible domestic violence situation in a vehicle at FAA Road and Ocean Drive. The people in question were later contacted by Alaska State Troopers.

A person at 1:20 p.m. went to the police station to report a hazard to pedestrian traffic by vehicles not stopping or crosswalks. The person didn’t report any specific incident but the problem in general. The person “expressed support for issuing tickets to offending drivers.”

A caller at 4:14 p.m. reported information regarding food sales happening without a permit at Mile 169 Sterling Highway. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 8:41 p.m. requested a welfare check on a man in a vehicle on Ocean Drive Loop. An officer went to the area.

Sept. 5

A caller at 11:40 p.m. reported a vehicle in the ditch and a person having difficulty breathing at Aurora Court and Mattox Street. Officers and medics went to the scene.

A caller at 1:03 p.m. made a REDDI report on a vehicle at East End Road and Kachemak Drive. An officer responded and found the vehicle parked and unoccupied.

A caller at 3:15 p.m. requested a welfare check on an elderly woman on Lee Drive. An officer went to the home to make the check.

A person at 5:37 p.m. went to the police staton to speak with an officer. An officer helped the person with their issue.

An officer at 10:25 p.. gave a driver a citation for speeding at Maintenance Road and the Sterling Highway.

Sept. 6

A caller at 1:17 a.m. reported a disturbance on West Bayview Avenue. Officers went to the scene and issued a person a disorderly conduct warning.

A caller at 2:48 a.m. reported two men causing a disturbance at a local business on the Sterling Highway. Officers went to the location.

A caller at 8:45 a.m. reported an issue regarding dog ownership on the Sterling Highway. An officer went to the scene and the dog was returned to its owner.

A caller at 1:52 p.m. reported an unattended death at Krueth Way. An officer went to the scene.

An officer at 2:02 p.m. was flagged down by a person reported a woman acting strangely at Lake Street and Ocean Drive Loop. The officer wasn’t able to locate anyone acting strangely.

A caller at 4:04 p.m. reported a shoplifting incident on Homer Bypass Road. Officers found and arrested a 27-year-old woman for fourth-degree theft. A man and a woman were given trespass advisements to keep them from the property.

Officers at 4:14 p.m. arrested a 28-year-old man on Greatland Street on an outstanding arrant for failing to appear in court.

An officer at 8:23 p.m. gave a driver a warning for speeding at Saltwater Drive and the Sterling Highway.

A caller at 9:33 p.m. reported an intoxicated woman banging on houses on Bonanza Drive. Officers went to the location.

A caller at 11:05 p.m. reported a noise complaint at Tulin Bluff West and Whispering Meadows Avenue. Officers went to the area.

Sept. 7

A caller at 3:34 a.m. reported a fight in progress on Main Street. Officers went to the area.

An officer at 4:04 a.m. fixed cones along the roadway on Homer Bypass Road.

A caller at 8:10 a.m. reported a woman going through the dumpster and making strange statements on Spit Road. An officer went to the area and the woman was issued a trespass notice to keep her from the property.

A person at 12:35 p.m. went to the police station to report that her son was assaulted by another minor on Lupine Court. An officer took a report.

An officer at 4:37 p.m. delivered an emergency message on East Fairview Avenue.

Officers at 8:59 p.m. assisted the Homer Volunteer Fire Department on Little Fireweed Avenue.

Officers at 9:56 p.m. arrested a 22-year-old man at Forest Glen Drive and Soundview Avenue on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.

A caller at 10:18 p.m. reported unattended minors on West Hill Road. Officers went to the location.

An officer at 11:45 p.m. gave a driver a warning for having expired registration on Spit Road.

Sept. 8

A caller at 2:43 a.m. requested assistance getting home from Greatland Street. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 9:14 a.m. reported the theft of a road construction sign at Homer Bypass Road and Main Street. An officer went to the scene.

An officer at 10:50 p.m. issued a summons to a 24-year-old man at Saltwater Drive and the Sterling Highway for a traffic violation.

Sept. 9

Officers at 1:43 a.m. investigated suspicious noises on Homer Bypass Road.

A caller at 9:14 a.m. reported a shoplifter that had left the store on Homer Bypass Road in a vehicle. An officer went to the area.

A caller at 12:40 p.m. reported a loose horse in their yard at Reber Road and West Hill Road. An officer was advised.

A caller at 1 p.m. reported a dog bite after the fact on East Bunnell Avenue. An officer went to the scene and a copy of the incident was forwarded to the Animal Control Office.

A caller at 2:15 p.m. reported a vehicle collision where a vehicle hit a guardrail at Mariner Drive and East End Road. An officer went to the scene and a state accident report is to follow.

Homer High School at 2 p.m. reported a minor with tobacco on school grounds. The minor walked away from the school upon being contacted by administration. An officer was advised.

A caller at 4:44 p.m. reported a verbal disturbance and verbal threats of violence at Soundview Avenue and the Sterling Highway. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 6:37 p.m. reported a domestic dispute between a minor and a family member on Main Street. An officer went to the scene.

Officers at 8:51 p.m. contacted multiple people at Pioneer Avenue and Bartlett Street. The arrested a 32-year-old woman on four outstanding warrants and advised a man he was trespassed from that location.

Troopers

Sept. 9

Alaska Wildlife Troopers gave a 70-year-old Ninilchik man a citation for taking a sub-legal bull moose during the hunting season in GMU 15C. Arraignment is set in Homer District Court on Sept. 18.

Court records show the following actions taken in Homer District Court through Sept. 9:

Criminal Court

Julie A. Cox, 46, third-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and reckless endangerment. All counts were domestic violence-related.

Daniel E. Rosendahl, 33, two counts of first-degree theft and one count of first-degree criminal trespassing.

Staci R. Joseph, 27, fourth-degree theft in a Sept. 6 case. In a Sept. 9 case, fourth-degree theft.

Markell N. Polushkin, 24, avoiding an interlock device by circumventing or tampering.

Brian M. Mctigue, 37, fourth-degree theft, second-degree theft and fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
