Homer Police

Oct. 21

An agency at 9:51 a.m. requested officer assistance on Lake Street. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 3:38 p.m. reported a person trying to drive while intoxicated on East End Road. An officer went to the scene and arrested the 41-year-old man for driving under the influence.

A caller at 5:18 p.m. reported debris in the roadway on East End Road. An officer went to the location to clear the hazard out of the road.

A caller at 5:42 p.m. reported a tip about a missing person at East End Road and Bear Creek Drive. An officer went to the area and contacted a woman there. The officer found the tip was unfounded.

A caller at 7:33 p.m. reported a vehicle driving dangerously in the parking lot of a business on Woodside Avenue. An officer responded but wasn’t able to locate the vehicle.

Oct. 22

An officer at 3:16 a.m. gave a driver a traffic warning.

An officer at 6:10 p.m. arrested a man on an outstanding warrants on Ocean Drive Loop.

An officer at 10:36 p.m. contacted a driver during a traffic stop at Skyline Drive and Clearwater Drive and warned them for speeding.

Oct. 23

A caller at 4:24 a.m. reported a power outage and a possible fire in the area of their home on E Street. An officer and the Homer Volunteer Fire Department went to the area.

A caller at 4:57 a.m. reported a tree blocking the roadway on Kachemak Drive. An officer went to the scene and the tree was removed.

An officer at 5 a.m. contacted a downed tree at Spit Road and Kachemak Drive. The proper agency was notified and the tree was removed.

A caller at 5:39 a.m. reported a power outage and possible fire on Bay Vista Court. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 10:24 a.m. reported an arcing/sparking tree on a power line on Mariner Drive. Officers and the Homer Volunteer Fire Department went to the scene.

A caller at 2:57 p.m. reported a customer at a business on Greatland Street causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. Officers went to the scene but the person was already gone.

An alarm company at 3:30 p.m. reported a burglary alarm on Spit Road. Officers went to the scene and found everything was OK.

An officer at 4:50 p.m. served a person a subpoena at Steller’s Jay Drive and Bear Creek Drive.

An officer at 5:14 p.m. served a person a subpoena on Endless View Place.

Oct. 24

A caller at 7:46 a.m. reported a vehicle collision with a moose at Glenview Street and the Sterling Highway. The caller said the moose was able to walk away. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 9:20 a.m. reported seeing a wanted person on Lake Street. An officer went to the scene and arrested the 46-year-old man on an outstanding warrant and took him the Homer Jail.

A caller at 10:40 a.m. reported an intoxicated man stumbling while hitchhiking at Glenview Street and the Sterling Highway. An officer went to the scene and confirmed the man was OK.

Dispatch got an accidental 911 call at 11:24 a.m. The sound of two men talking about tools was heard but nothing suspicious. An officer went to the area to double check.

A caller at 3:55 p.m. requested that a welfare check be made on a person “dancing on the side of the road” at West Hill Road and East End Road. An officer contacted the man there and found everything was OK.

A caller at 4:08 p.m. reported two young children left inside a running vehicle on Hazel Avenue. An officer went to the location but the vehicle was already gone.

A caller at 9:26 p.m. made a Report Every Dangerous Drive Immediately (REDDI) report on a vehicle in the area of Main Street and Homer Bypass Road. An officer attempted to locate the vehicle.

An officer at 11:44 p.m. provided transportation for a citizen at Soundview Avenue and the Sterling Highway.

Oct. 25

A caller at 12:36 p.m. reported a woman squatting in a ditch at Mile 171 Sterling Highway and that she was then picked up by a vehicle. An officer responded but wasn’t able to locate the vehicle or the woman.

A caller at 12:40 p.m. reported seeing a person similar to a person missing from Homer at Greatland Street and Homer Bypass Road. An officer wasn’t able to locate anyone matching that description.

A caller at 12:43 p.m. requested a welfare check be made on a man who seemed agitated at Pioneer Avenue and Woodside Avenue. An officer contacted the man.

A caller at 1:19 p.m. made a REDDI report on a vehicle heading out to the Spit. Officers responded and contacted the driver.

A medical facility on Bartlett Street requested a welfare check on a man acting agitated and talking to himself. An officer went to the scene and the man was taken back to the facility.

Officers attempted to serve a warrant at 2:34 p.m. on Brown Drive.

A caller at 4:34 p.m. made a REDDI report on a vehicle on the Sterling Highway. An officer contacted the driver and issued them a citation for having expired registration.

An officer at 5:57 p.m. contacted a driver on Ohlson Lane and gave them a citation for having expired registration.

Alaska State Troopers at 8:44 p.m. passed on a REDDI report to Homer police. An officer contacted the driver on Homer Bypass Road and didn’t detect any impairment.

A caller at 9:08 p.m. reported the smell of gas on Spit Road. An officer went to the area.

An officer at 9:35 p.m. warned a driver for speeding at Spit Road and Freight Dock Road.

A caller at 10:39 p.m. reported a disturbance on Lakeside Court. An officer went to the area but didn’t find any disturbance.

A caller at 11:29 p.m. reported a disturbance on the Sterling Highway. Officers went to the location.

An officer at 11:54 p.m. contacted a wanted person during a traffic stop at Crittenden Drive and the Sterling Highway. The 19-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and taken to the Homer Jail.

Oct. 26

An officer at 12:35 a.m. arrested a 50-year-old man for driving under the influence at Pioneer Avenue and Heath Street.

An officer assisted medics at 5:56 a.m. on Herndon Drive.

A caller at 6:32 a.m. requested officer assistance on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 11 a.m. reported finding loose pills on the bike path on Spit Road. An officer went to the area.

A caller at 11:15 a.m. reported that an unsecured vehicle rolled into a parked airplane. An officer was advised.

A person at 11:41 a.m. went to the police station to report a disabled vehicle on the roadway at Heath Street and the Sterling Highway. The owner was contacted and towing arrangements were made.

An agency on Bartlett Street at 11:03 a.m. requested that a man be held at the Homer Jail for protective custody. Officers went to the scene on Bartlett Street and took the man into custody.

A caller at 1:25 p.m. reported a suspicious vehicle at an abandoned cabin at Rogers Loop Road and the Sterling Highway. Officers went to the area, found people there and advised them to move along.

A caller at 8:33 p.m. reported a vehicle running in the parking lot of a closed business on Spit Road. An officer went to the location but didn’t find the vehicle.

An officer at 11:57 p.m. gave a driver a traffic citation at Main Street and Bunnell Avenue.

Oct. 27

An officer at 12:22 a.m. arrested a 19-year-old woman for driving under the influence at Pennock Street and East End Road.

An officer at 3:17 a.m. arrested a 30-year-old man for driving under the influence at Heath Street and Pioneer Avenue.

Officers at 10:14 a.m. arrested a 31-year-old man on an outstanding warrant on Brown Drive. An officer assisted Alaska State Troopers with a probations search.

An officer at 11:52 a.m. attempted to make a warrant arrest on Crittenden Street but wasn’t able to find the subject.

A caller at 12:51 p.m. reported a verbal dispute on Early Spring Street and requested help with leaving a home there. Officers went to the scene.

An officer at 8:38 p.m. cleared debris from the road on Spit Road.

An officer at 9:30 p.m. gave a driver a traffic warning on the Sterling Highway.

Oct. 28

Officers at 12:01 a.m. assisted medics on Bowers Street.

Officers at 12:27 a.m. issued a 51-year-old man a summons for driving with his license revoked on Forest Glen Drive. The vehicle was impounded.

A caller at 7:06 p.m. reported that a person was skateboarding at Mile 171 Sterling Highway in “all dark clothing” and that they were hard to see. An officer responded but the skateboarder was gone when they arrived.

An officer at 9:30 p.m. warned a driver for speeding at West Hill Road and the Sterling Highway.

Oct. 29

A caller at 2:51 a.m. reported a disturbance in the area of Main Street. Officers went to the location and contacted the people involved. They found the report was unfounded.

Troopers

Sept. 18

Alaska State Troopers at 12:48 p.m. responded to a burglary on Diamond Ridge Road. An investigation showed that unknown person(s) had forced entry into the garage area of the residence and a vehicle on the property. Nothing was obviously missing from the property and there are currently no leads.

Oct. 10

Alaska State Troopers at 10:27 a.m. received a report of an out building being broken into at a seasonal residence on Sunset Drive in Ninilchik. An investigation showed a shed on the property had been broken into but nothing was stolen. No suspects were identified during the investigation.

Oct. 27

Alaska State Troopers at 5:05 p.m.m received a report of a burglary at a residence on Augusta Lane in Homer. An investigation showed unknown person(s) had enter a detached shop and stole items from the shop. No suspects have been identified.
