May 8
A caller at 8:33 a.m. reported a door left open on Homer Bypass Road. An officer responded to the area.
A caller at 1:12 p.m. advised that he had found a bag in the ditch on Homer Bypass Road, but that he had left it there.
A caller at 11:04 p.m. reported drug activity and a noise complaint on Ben Walters Lane. An officer responded to the scene but noted no drug activity.
A caller at 11:42 p.m. reported a domestic dispute on Campground Road. Officers responded to the location but were unable to locate anyone.
A caller at 11:55 p.m. reported a domestic disturbance on Ben Walters Lane. An officer went to the scene.
May 9
An officer at 3:37 a.m. cleared debris from the roadway at Mile 1 Kachemak Drive.
A caller at 8:56 a.m. reported a man leaving his motorcycle in a wooded area at Bowers Street and the Sterling Highway and walking away. An officer went to the scene and contacted the owner, who took possession of the motorcycle.
A caller at 1:09 p.m. reported two men causing a disturbance at Karen Hornaday Park. An officer went to the park but found no disturbance.
A caller at 3:59 p.m. reported a disturbance at the campground at Karen Hornaday Park. Officers responded to the scene and found no crime had been committed. They did however take one woman to Haven House and issue the other person involved a trespass notice.
An agency at 6 p.m. relayed a REDDI report to Homer Police for a vehicle on Homer Bypass Road. An officer contacted the driver and noted no impairment.
A caller at 8:59 p.m. reported a customer concealing merchandise at a business on Greatland Street, and that when confronted the person turned the merchandise over. An officer attempted to contact the person but was unable to locate them.
An officer at 10:26 p.m. gave a driver a traffic warning for failing to stop at a stop sign at Main Street and Pioneer Avenue.
An officer at 11:40 p.m. advised a driver on Bishop’s Beach about the ordinance regarding camping within city limits.
May 10
A caller at 12:01 a.m. reported a shoplifter on Homer Bypass Road. An officer responded to the scene and issued a man a trespass notice.
Officers at 3:29 a.m. assisted medics on Spit Road.
An officer at 2:36 a.m. provided transportation on West Hill Road.
A caller at 8:58 a.m. reported a horse in the roadway at Saltwater Drive and the Sterling Highway. An officer contacted the horse’s owner.
A caller at 10:14 a.m. reported a possibly dead man at Ramp 8 on Freightdock Road. Officers, medics and the harbor officer responded to the scene.
A caller at 10:59 a.m. reported a neighbor’s dog had killed his chickens on Jennifer Place. An officer referred the case to the animal control office.
A caller at 11:59 a.m. reported a hit and run in a parking lot on Homer Bypass Road. An officer responded to the location.
A caller at 12:19 p.m. reported a vehicle in a parking lot on Ben Walters Lane with a lot of traffic going to it. An officer went to the location but the vehicle was gone when the officer arrived.
A caller at 3:12 p.m. reported an unattended death on East Bayview Avenue. An officer went to the scene.
May 11
A caller at 9:38 a.m. reported a verbal disturbance on the Sterling Highway. An officer went to the scene and separated the people involved.
A caller at 10:10 a.m. reported a vehicle parked illegally in an alley on Allen Way. An officer went to the scene, contacted the driver and told them to move the vehicle.
A caller at 11 a.m. requested that a man be given a trespass notice to be kept from some properties on Lake Street. An officer was unable to locate the man.
A caller at 4:10 p.m. reported several people yelling, cursing and camping on private property on Ben Walters Lane. Officers went to the scene, but the people the caller mentioned were gone when the officers got there.
Officers at 4:42 p.m. served a 35-year-old man with an arrest warrant on Ben Walters Lane. He was also charged with resisting arrest, fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and violating conditions of release.
A caller at 9:17 p.m. reported a possible illegal camper across the street from the caller’s home on Spruceview Avenue. An officer went to the area.
A caller at 9:42 p.m. reported that men were harassing people in cars at a local business on Homer Bypass Road. Officers arrested one 49-year-old man for second-degree criminal trespass.
A caller at 10:24 p.m. reported loud music and heavy foot traffic from a residence in a complex on Ben Walters Lane. An officer went to the scene.
May 12
A caller at 1:32 p.m. made a REDDI report on a vehicle speeding and passing into oncoming traffic on Spit Road. An officer contacted the driver and noted no impairment. The officer warned the driver about his driving habits.
A caller at 2:32 p.m. reported a possible drug transaction at East Bunnell Avenue and Beluga Place. An officer was unable to locate anyone there.
Troopers
May 2
Alaska State Troopers at 9:09 a.m. received a report of a vehicle which had been stolen by the owner’s minor son. An investigation showed a 14 year old male had taken the vehicle without permission. Further investigation showed the juvenile male was intoxicated while operating the vehicle. The vehicle was located near mile 145 of the Sterling Highway and stopped by Troopers. The juvenile male was arrested and remanded into the Kenai Youth Facility.
May 4
Alaska State Troopers at about 11:45a.m. Troopers responded to a business in Ninilchik for a report that a female had been groped by a male coworker. An investigation showed the male touched the female’s rear end. Charges have been sent to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
May 8
Alaska State Troopers at about 9:30 a.m.responded to an incident at an address on Stovall Avenue in Anchor Point. An investigation showed a 40-year-old Homer man had entered the residence without permission and assaulted several people inside the residence with bear spray. Burke also took items from inside the house and fled the scene in a vehicle. Further investigation showed he was on conditions of release from another criminal case. An arrest warrant was issued for the man. He was contacted and arrested later the same night and transported to Wildwood Pretrial facility.
May 11
Alaska State Troopers at 8:30 p.m. contacted a 27-year-old Homer man at a Homer residence following a disturbance investigation. Investigation revealed he had a warrant for his arrest in the amount of $100 for failure to appear for jury duty. The man was arrested and remanded to the Homer Jail without incident.
Alaska State Troopers at 5:31 p.m. responded to a single vehicle collision at mile 164 Sterling Highway, near Anchor Point. Investigation revealed that a 76-year-old Homer woman was driving her Chrysler 300 southbound when she drove into the ditch. The vehicle sustained major damage and the woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. The driver was seatbelted and alcohol was not a factor.
Alaska State Troopers at 10:56 a.m. received a report of a burglary of a seasonal property on Tall Tree Ave. An investigation showed sometime within the last month unknown persons(s) forced entry into the residence and damaged property. The investigation is ongoing.
Alaska State Troopers at 9:48 a.m. received a report of a vehicle which had been set on fire on Cottonwood Lane in Anchor Point. An investigation showed the vehicle had been parked on Cottonwood Lane after it broke down several days earlier. Sometime during the night the vehicle was set on fire. The investigation is ongoing.
May 13
Alaska State Troopers at 9:26 a.m. received a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence on Sprucegate Road in Anchor Point. An investigation showed that sometime during the night the vehicle was taken by unknown persons. The vehicle is a 2008 Ford Escape bearing Alaska license FLY100 belonging to a 38-year-old Anchor Point woman.
May 14
Alaska State Troopers at about 5:30 p.m.arrested a 45-year-old Nikolaevsk man after receiving reports that he had impeded fire trucks from responding to a wild land fire. An investigation showed he had laid down in the middle of the road and impeded a fire truck which was responding to a wild land fire which was threatening occupied residences in Nikolaevsk. The man was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail.
