June 30

A woman at 12:35 p.m. reported medicine stolen.

A woman at 2:31 p.m. reported an unknown person knocked on her door during the evenings.

A called at 4:11 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a pedestrian on the Sterling Highway. Police responded and the man was taken to the hospital.

A caller at 10:08 p.m. reported she was harassed and a sign vandalized at a Ben Walters Lane address.

July 1

Police at 2:54 a.m. received a report of a commercial truck rollover near Mile 168 Sterling Highway but with no injuries.

A caller at 10:12 a.m. reported possible elder abuse at a Bartlett Street address.

A person at 2:17 p.m. made a 911 call of a drunk pedestrian. EMTs took the man to the hospital.

Police at 2:22 p.m. arrested a 47-year-old man on a warrant.

A man at 2:48 p.m. reported a drunk pedestrian on Klondike Avenue. Police provided transportation.

A caller at 3:30 p.m. reported a theft from a building.

A caller at 7:47 p.m. reported hearing a loud noise, possibly a gunshot, in the Ocean Drive Loop area.

A man at 8:12 p.m. contacted police while they did a security check on private property in the Town Center and reported his backpack was stolen. Police later found the backpack at the library.

July 2

A man at 1:50 a.m. reported people in vehicles camping in a prohibited area near Mile 170.5 Sterling Highway.

A person at 9:07 a.m. reported possible elder abuse at a Sabrina Road address.

A caller at 11:15 a.m. reported a moose on the sidewalk on the Sterling Highway.

A man at 4:15 p.m. reported vandalism done to multiple cars in the Homer area.

A woman at 5:37 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a man at Bishop’s Beach. The woman said the man was hitting himself with a stick and had a bloody face. Police contacted a 67-year-old man and EMTs took him to the hospital. Police charged with the man with fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, methamphetamines, and sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, marijuana.

Several callers at 6:45 p.m. reported a car crash with injuries at Pioneer Avenue and Svedlund Street. Police and medics responded. Police arrested one of the drivers, a 66-year-old man, for driving under the influence and third-degree assault.

A caller at 9:42 p.m. reported an unconscious man near a Sterling Highway business. Police and EMTs responded and took at 24-year-old man to the hospital.

A woman at 11:40 p.m. reported her adult son damaged property.

A woman at 11:50 p.m. reported she paid for a camping spot at Karen Hornaday Park but when she returned to the site other campers had taken her space. The woman said she would find alternate camping space for the night.

Police at 12:18 p.m. assisted firefighters in responding to a smoke alarm and smoke at a Herndon Drive home. Firefighters found a resident had left a pot on the stove. No fire was started and firefighters aired out the home.

A person at 1:31 p.m. reported vehicle tampering.

July 3

A caller at 10:25 p.m. asked for help with an elderly man. Police responded and helped get the man into a car. He was taken to the hospital.

A caller at 10:42 p.m. reported a person camping in a no camping area on FAA Drive.

A woman at 11:06 p.m. reported backpacks stolen from a parking area on the Spit.

July 4

A caller at 12:49 a.m. made a noise complaint at a Spit campground.

A caller at 1:04 a.m. reported fireworks in the Clearwater Drive area.

A caller at 2:38 a.m. reported noise and general rowdiness at an East End Road parking lot.

A woman at 2:43 a.m. made a 911 call reporting she was lost and walking on the side of an unknown road. Police found a drunk woman near Mile 171.5 Sterling Highway and got her a safe ride home.

A caller at 7 a.m. said a man might be planning to rob local businesses on Pioneer Avenue.

A woman at 8:08 a.m. reported she gave her identification to a man to hold for safekeeping and now he won’t return it.

A caller at 11:30 a.m. reported people trespassing behind a Main Street business.

A woman at 11:35 a.m. reported she lost her keys to her Main Street apartment but the building manager wouldn’t give her a spare set.

A man at 1:51 p.m. reported a man with blood on his face at Bishop’s Beach.

A woman at 4:29 p.m. reported a stray dog in her rabbit cage on the Spit. Police notified animal control.

Police at 8:14 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 57-year-old woman driving on the Sterling Highway. Police arrested her for DUI and eluding police.

A man at 9:52 p.m. made a 911 call of gunshots in the Pioneer Avenue area. Police determined it was fireworks.

July 5

Police at 1:20 a.m. contacted a man walking on the side of East End Road with a purse.

A man at 4:35 a.m. reported drunk people walking on Grubstake Avenue. Police contacted a woman and told her to stay home until she was sober.

A woman at 5:50 a.m. reported a man sleeping in the hallway of an Ocean Drive Loop hotel. Police told the man to leave the property.

A caller at 8:58 a.m. reported a baby seal on the Spit beach.

A woman at 10:15 a.m. reported men sleeping on the grass near the post office. Police responded and found all was OK.

A caller at 2:28 p.m. reported an unconscious man lying in a Hazel Avenue parking lot. Police and EMTs responded and the man was taken into protective custody.

A caller at 5 p.m. reported five motor-
homes parked on the multiuse path on the Spit by a Freight Dock Road business. Police responded and the motorhomes were relocated.

A caller at 6:21 p.m. made a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint of a driver speeding and swerving on the Spit Road. Police arrested a 22-year-old man on a warrant, but did not see impairment in the driver.

A man at 6:47 p.m. reported a verbal dispute between two young men at a Bayview Avenue address. Police responded and agreed to take responsibility for juveniles fighting.

Police at 7:05 p.m. contacted people riding ATVs on Lake Street. The riders’ parents were to pick up the drivers and the ATVs.

A caller at 7:36 p.m. reported an expected death of an 80-year-old man at his Kachemak Drive home.

A man at 9:59 p.m. made a 911 call of a verbal dispute on the Spit with a drunk woman who was left in a car. Police contacted the suspects and issued disorderly conduct warnings.

July 6

Police at 1:39 a.m. made a security check of a Pioneer Avenue bar and arrested a 56-year-old man for DUI.

A caller at 12:50 p.m. reported a car in the ditch on West Hill Road. Police responded and arrested a 35-year-old woman for DUI and driving while license suspended.

A caller at 1:10 p.m. reported a car was stolen from an East End Road address.

A caller at 9:19 p.m. reported a drunk man yelling and swearing on the Spit. Police contacted the man and told him to keep it down.

July 7

A man at 8:45 a.m. reported logs stolen from a Quinalt Avenue yard.

A caller at 9:01 a.m. reported being unable to report to jail because of intoxication. Police told the caller to return when sober.

A woman at 9:20 a.m. reported receiving threatening phone calls.

A man at 12:41 p.m. reported a loose dog on Soundview Avenue tried to bite him. Police contacted animal control.
