Cordova Fish and Wildlife Troopers cited a 22-year-old Homer man for commercial fishing during a closed period in the Cordova area. Troopers allege the man’s fishing boat was observed from the air fishing during a closed period on May 21.
Dec. 11
Alaska State Troopers at 8:49 p.m. went to a two-car head-on collision at the intersection of the Seward Highway and the Alyeska Highway in Girdwood. A 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 36-year-old Seward man and heading north collided with a Dodge pickup driven by a 60-year-old Anchor Point man heading south. The Anchor Point man was taken to Providence Hospital Anchorage with injuries and two passengers were given a ride but were uninjured. Both trucks were totaled. Troopers allege the Anchor Point man drove under the influence. Charges of DUI will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office.
Dec. 12
Troopers at 1:23 p.m. went to a car crash on Centurion Drive in Homer. Troopers said a 17-year-old Homer girl driving a 2002 Dodge Durango lost control on the icy road, slid across the road, hit a parked Toyota Corolla and pushed the Corolla into a building. The girl did not wear her seat belt but was uninjured. Troopers cited the girl for failure to wear a seat belt and driving without insurance and with expired registration. The crash caused $2,000 in damage to the Dodge and $500 to the Toyota.
Dec. 17
Troopers at 9:08 a.m. went to a car crash with injuries at Mile 166.5 Sterling Highway in Homer. Troopers said a 35-year-old Anchor Point woman driving south in a 2006 Hummer went off the road, rolling 200 feet down an embankment. The woman wore her seat belt and had minor injuries. EMTs took the woman to South Peninsula Hospital. The Hummer was totaled.
Troopers at 7:39 p.m. went to a Ninilchik home for a disturbance after receiving a 911 hang-up call. Troopers allege a 41-year-old Ninilchik woman assaulted a person she lived with. Troopers also allege the woman and her alleged victim both drove under influence. Troopers arrested both people.
