BEST COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING BET: The Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve Community Council invites the public to attend the next community council meeting scheduled for Sept. 19 from 12:30-3 p.m. at Kachemak Bay Campus in room P202. The primary purpose of the KBNERR Community Council is to support the Reserve’s research, education and training programs by providing an organized structure for dialogue and recommendations between staff and community members interested in natural science research and education. BEST ELECTION EDUCATION BET: Have you voted in the Kenai Peninsula Borough or City of Homer elections in the past? Whether you have or have not, or if you’re just curious about what’s on the ballot this fall, join Kenai Peninsula Votes on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Kachemak Bay Campus and learn everything there is to know about the upcoming borough and city elections! Feel free to arrive anytime. Each attendee will receive their own personal voter guide and much more. Food will be provided. This event will go over basic election information presented by both city and borough election clerks. Attendees will hear from candidates running for School Board District 9 and the South Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board candidates. Additionally, KPV will be looking at both sides of the ballot propositions you will be voting on. Borough/city elections typically have a voter turnout of about 15-20%, but KPV hopes to get a few more people to learn about the election and want to vote in it. BEST CALL FOR ARTISTS IN SCHOOLS BET: Bunnell Street Arts Center has put out the call for visual artists, musicians, dancers, thespians and writers interested in teaching for the Artist in Schools program!
